BENGALURU: Three doctors from the department of ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy, unani, siddha and homoeopathy (AYUSH) were booked by the Lokayukta police on Wednesday for allegedly demanding a bribe from Nisarga Trust in Sirsi.
The trust is allocated funds under the state government’s Ayush Grama project to carry out development works in Bairunde gram panchayat in Sirsi. The AYUSH department had set aside `35 lakh for the project in Sirsi during 2012-15, of which `9 lakh was to be released this financial year.
The doctors warned the trust authorities that if they were not paid the bribe, they would blacklist the trust and prevent it from getting the grant for the current financial year.
The accused doctors are programme officer Dr Mohammed Rafi Hakeem, and planning officers Dr Deepak Prabhu and Dr T K Dinesh of the AYUSH department in Bengaluru.[Source]
