New Delhi: Soon, Ayush doctors will be conducting (IUCD) insertions too. Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi created the separate ministry, Ayush, steps have been initiated to mainstream the traditional medicine system in the healthcare delivery setup of the country.
The roadmap includes engaging Ayush doctors for providing basic treatment for complications before referral. In a recent meeting with the ministry of Ayush, it has been decided to engage Ayush doctors for various activities related to reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health.
“Instructions have already been sent to the states to allow Ayush doctors to perform IUCD insertions, be part of mobile health teams under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), conduct deliveries and provide basic treatment for complications before they are referred to hospitals,” said a senior official in the health ministry.
Meanwhile, to give further push to the traditional medicine, a separate central drug controller for traditional medicines is also in the offing so as to enhance their quality and help them meet global standards. [Source]
