ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND : Patient satisfaction is one of the important goals of health system, but it is difficult to measure the satisfaction and gauze responsiveness of health systems as not only the clinical but also the nonclinical outcomes of care do influence the customer satisfaction. The health sector in India is characterized by a public health sector and private sector. The major reason for choosing the public health services is its in expensiveness, availability with close proximity. However, effectiveness of health system depends upon quality of services which is largely neglected. Patients are using public health services but majority are not satisfied. Patients satisfaction depends on many factors such as quality of clinical services provided, availability of medicine, behaviour of doctor and other health staff, cost of services, hospital infrastructure, physical comfort , emotional support and respect for patient preferences.
DATA AND METHODS : A cross sectional study design is used and self -administered questionnaire with closed ended questions is given among 200 patients of Govt.Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital Calicut .
CONCLUSIONS
This study conducted among the in and outpatients of Govt. Homoeopathic medical college hospital about patient satisfaction.
- In the study 50% belongs to 30-44 age group, 40% belongs to 16-29 age group, 10% respondants above 45 years. Among the study 69% female and 31% male.
- Among 200 participants 90% are satisfied with the care of doctors and 10% said NO
- In this study 82.5% are satisfied with the care of nurses and remaining 17.5% are not satisfied.
- Among 200 participants 40% are satisfied with the care received from other staffs and 60% said NO.
- Among 200 participants 82.5% are satisfied with the care of nurses and remaining 17.5% are not satisfied.
- In this 200 participants 47.5% are satisfied with the treatment process and remaining 52.5% said NO.
- None of the patients are satisfied with the pharmacy services , waiting period and the medicine availability.
- Among 200 participants 41% are satisfied and 59% are not satisfied with the op facilities.
- 100% of the participants are ready to recommend this hospital to others
From this survey we observe that majority of the patients are not satisfied with current hospital facilities and services. We need to improve hospital facilties, pharmacy facilities, lab facilities, medicinal availability, parking areas and behavioural training for hospital staffs. And ensure computerized maintainance of hospital records and computerized prescription management system. Also modernize hospital equipments and available facilities.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
STUDY DESIGN
An institutional based cross-sectional study design is to be used and self -administered questionnaire will be collected from the patients .closed ended questions will be given to patients and data will be collectd and then statistically analyzed.
STUDY LOCATION : Govt. Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital Calicut.
DURATION OF STUDY : Approximately 8 months.
SAMPLE SIZE : Minimum 200 patients.
SAMPLE SELECTION
The present study was conducted among inpatients [ip] outpatients[op] of Govt. Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital Calicut.

RESULTS
- In the present study we surveyed the patient satisfaction in Govt. Homoeopathic medical college hospital Kozhikode.
- There were total of 200 participants in our study.

In our study on asking suggestion about hospital services and facilities, majority have suggested to improve the pharmacy facilities, medicinal availability, parking areas, and lab facilities.
CONCLUSION
This study was conducted among the in and outpatients of Govt. Homoeopathic medical college hospital about patient satisfaction. From this survey we observe that majority of the patients are not satisfied with current hospital facilities and services. We need to improve hospital facilties , pharmacy facilities, lab facilities, medicinal availability, parking areas and behavioural training for hospital staffs. And ensure computerized maintainance of hospital records and computerized prescription management system. Also modernize hospital equipments and available facilities.
