Dr Pooja Ahirwar

Abstract
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a prevalent condition that significantly affects individuals’ quality of life. While conventional treatments provide symptomatic relief, their limitations necessitate exploring alternative therapies. Homoeopathy, based on the principle of individualization, offers a holistic approach to GERD management. Findings suggest that homoeopathy can provide sustainable relief and improved quality of life for GERD patients, positioning it as a valuable complementary treatment option.

Introduction
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a chronic digestive condition characterized by the backflow of stomach acid into the esophagus, causing symptoms like heartburn, regurgitation, and chest discomfort. GERD affects millions globally, impairing quality of life and increasing the risk of complications such as Barrett’s esophagus.

Conventional treatments for GERD, including proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and lifestyle modifications, often provide symptomatic relief but fail to address the root cause. Moreover, long-term reliance on PPIs may lead to side effects like nutrient malabsorption and rebound acid hypersecretion.

Homoeopathy, with its holistic and individualized approach, offers an effective alternative for managing GERD. By addressing the underlying causes and focusing on the patient’s unique symptom profile, homeopathy provides sustainable relief and long-term healing.
