Bureau of Indian Standards is the National Standard Body of India established under the BIS Act 2016 for the harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods.
The recently formed Ayush division of BIS ID developing standards for CAM systems (collectively called Ayush and comprising of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Sidhha and Homoeopathy).
The first standard for Homoeopathy is being developed in standardization of terminology. The aim is to provide standardized definitions for these terms, as they pertain to homoeopathic practice, prescriptions, pharmaceutical preparations, and homoeopathic philosophy. This
standardization is intended to facilitate better understanding and consistent usage among variousstakeholders. This document is not a treatise on homoeopathic philosophy and practice and therefore do not elaborate on operational modalities.
