Port Blair, Sep 17 :The Andaman and Nicobar Congress today demanded for regularisation of services of 46 local doctors of the Islands, working on Adhoc and Contract basis for the past several years.
According to reports, all these 46 doctors from Andaman (Tribals and Non-Tribals) hailing Allopathy, Homeopathy, Ayurveda and Dental stream, had been serving in these remote Islands for the past several years and waiting for regularisation of their services.
” These doctors are local inhabitants of these Islands and are rendering their praiseworthy services even in remotest part of the islands, ” Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the president of Andaman and Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee, told UNI today.
Mr Sharma stated that these doctors appointed under NRHM from 2005 had left their services on account of remoteness of these Islands while the adhoc and contract doctors at present had crossed 35 years of eligible age for appearing in UPSC.
” But the Administration is empowered to relax any of the condition of recruitment rules, ” the ANTCC president pointed out.
Mr Sharma had already requested the Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to take up the matter with the Centre and UPSC for regularisation of the services of these 46 doctors. –UNI
