For the last many years, the Ayurveda and Homeopathy doctors’ appointment were not made as per requirement in Ayurveda hospitals and dispensaries in different districts of the state. The process has been started but when the Ayurveda and homeopathy doctors recruitment will be done has not yet been finalized. The process was delayed because of Harsh Singh, Ministe of State for AYUSH ( independent charge ) was for the last was not well.
There are number of Ayurveda hospitals and dispensaries in almost all parts of the state have acute shortage of doctors these days due to which the patients who want to have Ayurveda or homeopathy treatment either go to the private practitioners or Government allopathic hospitals for allopathic treatment. A proposal of having some more AYUSH dispensaries was also moved but it is said to have been refused in order to have shortage of funds. Secondly, those AYUSH doctors recruited on contract basis by the Public Health and Family Welfare department are in service with the health department. They will not serve the AYUSH hospitals. It is the reason why the AYUSH department wants have separate regular recruitment of AYUSH doctors to its district hospitals and dispensaries.
Sources said due to shortage of doctors, the AYUSH department could not open its hospitals in all districts. About only in 17 districts there are hospitals while there are 51 districts waiting hospitals in order to promote the Ayurveda and homeopathy medical system. Most doctors will be retired in coming two months the Government has sought such information from the District AYUSH Officers of the state.
It is learnt the AYUSH department might advertise about 500 AYUSH doctors’ posts in coming financial year. Not only in district Ayurveda hospitals and dispensaries, rather the doctors shortage is in Ayurveda medical colleges also due to which there is always danger of losing Government of India’s recognition.
