The Nagpur bench of Bombay high court on Wednesday stayed the results of All India Ayush Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET) in a petition filed by 18 aspirants from the city alleging mass cheating at one city exam centre, Nextech Infotech, on June 24. Stay valid upto 26 July 2018.
The results were to be declared on Thursday. The aggrieved BAMS students have demanded a re-exam while claiming that the centre was ill prepared to hold the online entrance, and students solved the papers consulting each other in the absence of any monitoring.
During the last hearing on July 13, the court had issued notice to Ministry of Ayush, and directed it to file reply by July 19. The petitioners’ complaint to both, ministry officials and police, had gone unheeded.
The exam was conducted in 20 cities and Nagpur had four centres. Of these, the centre at Nextech Technologies, Kamptee Road, is the one where the alleged incident of malpractice took place. HC had issued notice to Nextech as well.
Even as the announcement of results neared, petitioners were shocked to find that the ministry was sitting on their complaint. Since the results of the AIAPGET were expected on July 19, the petitioners had pleaded to the court to stay the results.
Advocate AS Dhore represented the aggrieved students.
The AIAPGET cell and the ministry submitted before the court that they wished to announce the result first and resolve the grievance later. However, the HC restrained the respondents from announcing the results, and posted the matter for hearing on July 26.
The respondents’ counsel also disclosed that similar complaints were also received from Pune. Considering that result declaration may materially affect further processing and career of students, the court ordered a stay.
