To cop up with the shortage of doctors in all the rural health centres and remote areas of state, the State Government will soon start posting 700 doctors in various parts.
The three months training of AYUSH medical colleges and even Health Department’s district hospitals are being given to the selected AYUSH doctors so that they can have better knowledge of AYUSH and allopathy when before their posting at the rural health centres, they will be permitted of prescribing some allopathy drugs to the patients.
Usually, the AYUSH doctors have no permission to treat patients through allopathic drugs and if they do so it is a serious offense. They can practise in their own medical system in which they have got degree.
According to information, the decision to appoint 700 AYUSH doctors in the rural health centres was taken about six months ago and one of the batch of these selected AYUSH doctors was imparted three months training that began three months ago. First batch of these doctors has been got training but their posting order to the rural health centres has not yet been issued. There are some other batches taking training in Government AYUSH colleges and district hospitals of the Health Departments in different parts of the State. The Government has taken this decision when the MBBS doctors including regular and contractual employees did not willingly served rural health centres. Problem of quacks was deepened that, due to shortage of doctors in Government rural health centres, patients suffered a lot for treatment. Even, those MBBS pass out of the medical college who have a year rural services are mandatory as per the Government of India directives do not stay in rural health centres and leave the job before completing one year.
It is learnt that, earlier Government had decided to start posting of those AYUSH doctors who completed their three months training of AYUSH and allopathy doctors, but they were not posted. Trained doctors are waiting for their posting orders for about a month. However, it is said that, the Government will post trained AYUSH doctors before April this year in summer season.
When contacted Principal Secretary of AYUSH Shikha Dubey, said, “all 700 AYUSH doctors will be posted at rural health centres soon. It is underway. First batch of these doctors have got three months training, another batch’s training is being continued,” she said.
