Homoeopathic approach in cellulitis

ABSTRACT
This article is an attempt to explore homoeopathic approach towards an acute inflammatory condition; Cellulitis. Many a times such acute conditions will hesitate to approach us because of the false concept that homoeopathy heals slowly. So, being homoeopaths it is our responsibility to prove that homoeopathy acts best in acute case.

CHIEF COMPLAINT
A 46 years old lady came with the complaints of painful vesicular eruptions, redness and swelling in bilateral lower limbs for the past three days. 

HISTORY OF CHIEF COMPLAINT
Patient was apparently healthy 3 days back. Suddenly she developed with pain, redness and swelling on bilateral lower limbs. Swelling and pain was more at night, hanging down the legs and was better by warm applications. Next day she noticed eruptions coming up with itching, pain which was more at night, due to which her sleep was disturbed and itching was better by warm applications. She also had burning sensation . There is no history of wounds, insect bite, Diabetes mellitus.

PERSONAL HISTORY 

Diet   : Mixed

Appetite                : Decreased 

Thirst                      : 1 litre per day, preferably warm water

Bladder                   : 4 – 5 per day & 1 per night

Bowel                       : Regular (once/day)         

Sleep                        : Disturbed due to complaint 

Perspiration            : Generalised

GENERAL PHYSICAL EXAMINATION 

Stocky in appearance

Well built and well nourished 

Temperature    : 99 ֯F

Pulse : 102 beats per minute 

Blood pressure: 110/60 mmHg

Weight               : 58kg

No signs of pallor, cyanosis, icterus, clubbing, lymphadenopathy. 

Bilateral pitting pedal oedema.

LOCAL EXAMINATION OF LOWER LIMBS

Red and shiny limbs

Blister like eruption 

PALPATION 

Local rise of temperature 

Tenderness

Bilateral pitting oedema

Acute totality 

Red and swollen legs

Itching 

Vesicular eruption
