Health Minister Aravind Limbavali said that the state government is looking into the Ayush doctors’ demand to grant them permission to use allopathic medicines in emergencies.
He was responding to BJP member Arun Shapur and Congress members Veeranna Mathikatti and Mahatesh Koujalg in the Council.
The minister said that some states have allowed Ayush doctors to prescribe allopathic medicines in emergencies and Karnataka is also looking into such a possibility.
Ayush doctors from across the state had staged a protest in Bangalore last week urging the government to consider their demand.
The state has over 1 lakh doctors and out of them 45,746 are Ayush doctors.
Limbavali said the the government is considering the option of reintroducing Integrated Medicine Course in Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) to help Ayush doctors.
