Health & Family Welfare Department- Setting up of State Review Board and State Level Ethical Committee for Clinical Research – Constituted – Orders issued .
G.O.(MS)No. 153 /2013/H&FWD Dated,Thiruvananthapuram, 03.05.20138
Government have started a programme for prevention and management of diabetes, hypertension, stroke and cancers. One of the areas in which there is great deal of research interest is the potential for application of AYUSH system to the management of these diseases.
This can be done only by carefully documenting the efficacy of treatments under each system. Since all the institutional Review Board and Ethical Committees in the State are attached to institutions practicing one system of medicine it is not possible to such committees to approve research proposal that involve more than one system of medicine. Investigations into clinical trials in the state has shown the necessity of expert advice on ethical and procedural issues of clinical trials.
Therefore Government is pleased to constitute the following committees to function as the State Review Board and State Level Ethical Committee for Clinical Research.
Four Homoeopaths are also in the state level board
Dr. Babu K.L,Professor, Government Homoeopathic Medical College,Thiruvananthapuram
Dr. Vijayakumar, Medical Officer, District Homoeo Hospital,Thiruvananthapuram
Dr. Reji Kumar R, Medical Officer, Government Homoeo Dispensary, Vechoochira.
Dr. Jaya C, Professor, Government Homoeopathic Medical College,Thiruvananthapuram
The task of the Committee will be to examine and approve proposals involving more than one system of medicine and advise the Government on procedural issues relating to clinical research in areas involving more than one system of medicines.
