As many as 50 homeopathic graduates are moving to other States every year to pursue their post-graduation (PG), paying lakhs of rupees, as the State of Andhra Pradesh does not have any post-graduate colleges for homeo medicine. Dr Allu Ramalingaiah Government Homeo College principal Dr Venna Veerabhadra Rao said that after completing five years of the graduation course, students pay about Rs 40 lakh for post-graduation. The same three and half year post-graduate course can be completed for only Rs 40,000 in the government post-graduation Homeo college.
At present, there is no post-graduate homeo college in the State. Dr Allu Ramalingaiah Government Homeo College has necessary parametres to get upgraded to a post-graduate college. Officials from the union ministry of AYUSH inspected the college and were satisfied with the facilities and infrastructure available in the college.
However, the process was kept pending at the union ministry of AYUSH, as 10 faculty members were compared to the required strength to get the status. Currently, as many as 20 faculty members are working in the college as against the sanctioned strength of 43. The post-graduate classes could be started immediately, if the AYUSH ministry accords conditional permission, as the State government asked the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission to fill vacant posts.
