Mumbai: The Directorate of Medical Education & Research (DMER) has proposed to go with merit in NEET even for admissions to health sciences courses like ayurveda, homeopathy, physiotherapy, nursing etc and not conduct its own CET. While the Supreme Court has asked the state and Centre to use NEET scores for admission to MBBS and BDS courses, the central entrance test is not binding on other allied health sciences courses.
Pravin Shingare, director of DMER, said that they have sent the proposal to the state’s medical education department for consideration. In 2013, when NEET was implemented for the first time, the state had decided to use the NEET merit list for admissions to other health sciences courses too.
