Even though we have our own ministry for the first time – There is no significant increase in allotment for AYUSH in 2014-15 (62 lakhs only).
AYUSH in Cr
- 137 for development of Ayurveda system.
- 89 for development of Unani system.
- 126 for development of Homoeopathy system.
- 54 for development of Yoga and Naturopathy system.
Rs. 380.42 has been allotted to State and UT plans cutting it from Central plans. This is a good initiative towards de-centralisation and customized plans.
The overall changes in the AYUSH budget 2014-15 in comparison to 2013-14 are as below.
Plans | 2013-14 | 2014-15 | Increase in Allotment (Amount) | Increase in Allotment (%) |
Central plans – Medical and public health | 962.1 | 623.3 | -338.8 | -35.21% |

What may be the impacts?
- Institutions may have a continuous development in infrastructure, promoting better quality training.
- No extra hope for growth under NRHM – the much awaited change by the AYUSH sector – over employment and mainstreaming of AYUSH.
- Promotion of AYUSH drug manufacturing – no helping hand.
