SRINAGAR: The aspirants who had applied for the posts of medical officers under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in their respective districts have questioned the wisdom of the authorities for not considering the post graduation in the selection process. Hundreds of posts were advertised by the authorities for filling up the posts of medical officers in almost all the districts of the valley. The respective deputy commissioners were supposed to head the selection committee.
Though the selection lists in many districts including Anantnag, Kulgam and Kupwara have already come out while in other districts the selection process is in the final stage with selection lists expected to come out in next few days.
The aspirants from various districts who have been dropped alleged that the NRHM authorities seemed to have set the criteria for the selection only to accommodate their favorites.
“It is an irony that the post graduation was not given any value in the selection process. I was the only doctor in the district with MD in Unani system of medicines with at least 15 international publications but for NRHM authorities my post graduation was not counted at all. After qualifying the screening test I appeared in the vive voce before the selection committee and feared well. But I was shocked to see myself out from the final selection list. Instead simple AYUSH doctors with Bachelors degrees were selected,” said Dr Jalal-u-din Bhat from Laktipora village of district Kulgam.
He said that had the authorities given some value to our masters degree he would have figured at serial No. 1.
“Even the experience was not given any consideration which simply indicates that the criteria for selection has been set by the authorities to accommodate favourites only,” he said.
Another aspirant, Dr Shahzad, with post graduation from Dialgam village of district Anantnag said that the way selection was done it seems that there is no scope for going for Masters degree after the completion of degree in AYUSH system of medicine.
“Screening test is OK. But there should have been some points for PG also. I too qualified the screening test but could not make it to the final selection as my master degree was not counted anywhere,” Dr Shahzad said.
He said that in allopathy even the SSRB exempts the candidates with Masters degrees from the screening test. “It is surprising that for NRHM authorities masters degree does not have any value. It is grave injustice with us. We all the candidates with masters degrees having been dropped are mulling to move the court,” he said.
Director NRHM, Dr Yashpal admitted that the PG was not considered in the selection process.
“The selection was made as per the criteria set by us. Medical officers are the block level posts and there is no requirement for Masters degree. The selection was simply made on the basis of the screening test and viva. If the candidates having been dropped have any doubts over the final selection they can come forward with their complaints. But I don’t think anything wrong has been done,” director said.[Source]
If in the advertisement, essential criteria is degree in any branch of AYUSH and no weight-age given to PG…n selection on the basis of screening test followed by viva….then there is nothing wrong to not being selected finally as it mainly depends on the performance of interview on that particular day…we just can not sought that we are not selected being Masters (if no weight-age given to PG as per advertisement)…but I must say that there should be written test followed by interview (as per norms laid down by Supreme court)…otherwise there are always chances of injustice/monopoly.
it is the reality of homeopathy . not only in NRHM job but in every job things are like this only . even in UPSC jobs there is no written exam but interview only . and interview means selection is on the basis of interviewers monopoly .
