ABSTRACT: Crotalus Horridus is a snake remedy from Ophidia group. It is more syphilitic than Lachesis. Mental symptoms being a characteristic subjective symptom helps in individualization of the remedy and the patient. Miasmatic evaluation of each medicine is essential to understand the gradation of symptoms in the reportorial totality. This article includes the tri-miasmatic evaluation of the mind of Crotalus Horridus.
KEY WORDS: Crotalus Horridus, Tri-miasmatic, Mental symptoms.
INTRODUCTION:
Crotalus Horridus also known as Rattle snake is prepared by triturating sugar of milk saturated with venom. The first proving was done by C. Hering who converted into a Homoeopath after reading Hahnemann’s “Nota Bene for my Reviewers”.
Crotalus Horridus produces both neurotoxic and haemotoxic action. It is a passive bleeder. It is hot, thirsty and chiefly right sided. Esteem and support are the core of the remedy.
Before Hahnemann, the mental symptoms were practically ignored in conventional system of medicine. In Homoeopathy, mental symptoms are ranked highest as they are expressions of the interior state of organisms. Nothing can supersede mind symptoms.1 Hahnemann mentioned in aphorism 211 that “the state of disposition of the patient often chiefly determines the selection of homoeopathic remedy as it is a characteristic symptom” and in aphorism 213 “symptoms relating to the changes in the state of mind and disposition along with other symptoms should be considered in every case for the cure”.2
J.T. Kent has given more importance to general symptoms as they always rule out non-agreeing particulars. Mental symptoms depict the inner self of the patient. Mental generals of Kent are classified and graded into will and emotions, intellect and understanding and memory.3
The miasmatic consideration is of great importance for effective Homoeopathic selection of remedy and potency for rapid, gentle and permanent cure in a given case. The similimum should be similar to the miasmatic state of the patient.
AIM: To evaluate the miasmatic mind of Crotalus Horridus according to Kent’s gradation of mental generals.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Reverse repertorization of mental symptoms of Crotalus Horridus by using Complete Repertory by Roger van Zandvoort (CARA software)4 and classifying them into three miasms- Psora, sycosis and syphilis under will and emotions, intellect and understanding and memory.

CONCLUSION: As per the above study, it can be deduced that Crotalus Horridus is predominantly a syco-syphilitic remedy. Kent says the diseases that calls for Crotalus Horridus are vastly grave. Crotalus Horridus is remedy which gets angered easily, answers snappishly and is absent minded, obstinate, quarrelsome, suspicious, shrewd, jests, business minded with sharp business acumen. Crotalus Horridus has bombastic speech, anguish, and aversion to family. It has low form of delirium, muttering, talking to himself, it will mumble and stumble over his words in a clumsy manner, delusions of being surrounded enemy, pursued as if and someone is behind him and insanity.5
And, as every medicine is capable of altering the state of the disposition and mind in the healthy individual in a different manner, it is crucial to study the mind symptoms thoroughly (Aphorism 212) and miasmatically of each medicine.2
