Hyderabad, September 20:
Dr. Niyaz Ahmed Khan, President, Old Boys’ Association and member of Development Committee of Nizamia Tibbi College, and Dr. A.A.Khan, State President of Unani Medical organization in a statement issued yesterday told that they met the new commissioner of AYUSH, Dr. P.K. Srivasu and garlanded him on assuming the charge.
A delegation consisting of the members of the Unani Medical Associations apprised the new Director of the problems faced by them. They invited him to visit Unani Hospital at Charminar.
Dr.A.A. Khan mentioned that despite Govt. issuing orders in January 2012 for filling up 77 posts of Unani Medical Officers no action has been taken. Recruitments were immediately made in the departments of Ayurveda and Homeopathy. Unani doctors are perturbed with this delay in appointments.
He pointed out that for the past 25 years, only 184 sanctioned posts of Unani Medical officers are there. There is no increase in the number of these vacancies.
A demand was also made to upgrade Unani dispensaries. The Dept. is also careless and lethargic in issuing ‘No objection Certificate’ to the medical officers desirous of going to Saudi Arabia for Hajj or Umarh.
Representation was also made to fill up the vacant posts by promotions.
Interview timings for meeting the commissioner AYUSH should be fixed daily instead of two days on Mondays and Saturdays.
Elections to A.P. Unani Medical Officers’ Association should be conducted as its two-year term expired in May 2012.
Dr. Zainulabedeen Khan, Secretary of old Boys’ Association demanded for planting trees near the new construction of the dilapidated wall of Nizamia Unani General Hospital.
The new Director assured that all the matters would be decided quickly and no file would be kept pending. Dr. Niyaz Ahmed Khan thanked the new Director.[Source]
