Abstract
Vaccination is the administration of a vaccine to help the immune system develop protection from a disease. There is overwhelming scientific consensus that vaccines are safe and effective way to fight infectious diseases. But limitations to their effectiveness and side effects do exist. Homoeopathic medical repertory consists of a separate chapter on vaccinations which is helpful in daily practice.

Key words: vaccination, homoeopathic medical repertory

Introduction :
A vaccine is a biological preparation that provides active acquired immunity to particular infectious disease. Vaccines are a way of artificially activating the immune system to protect against infectious disease. The activation occurs through priming the immune system with an immunogen. Stimulating immune responses with an infectious agent is known as immunization.

Limitations to their effectiveness , nevertheless exist. Sometimes, protection fails because of vaccine attenuation, vaccination regimes or administration or host – related failure due to host’s immune system simply does not respond adequately or at all.

Adverse effects:
The rate of side effects depends on the vaccine in question. Host related determinants that render a person susceptible to infection, such as genetics, health status, age, immune competence can be primary or secondary factors affecting the severity of infection and response to a vaccine.

Mild side effects

  • Mild fever
  • Redness, soreness, swelling at the injection site
  • Fatigue, poor appetite
  • Vomiting

Moderate side effects

  • Seizure
  • High fever

Severe side effects

  • Serious allergic reaction
  • other problems such as long term seizure, coma, brain damage
