What happened to Homoeopathy lady doctors?

In the last few years, more women doctors graduated from homoeopathy medical college than men but that was not reflected in the number of practicing doctors. Why?

1. They have to look after children, meetings, and other household work – social structure of India not much changed even after many years.
2. Family becomes the number one profession, especially in India – A multitasking which everyone cannot handle. This leads to growing frustration in wives and they decide to leave their current profession.
3. Parents of the lady doctor want to have a well-settled son in law but they don’t want their daughter to get settled first and then get her married.
4. Some rich families keeping lady doctors as a trophy wife. “Yes my son married a doctor” . They don’t want the doctor’s income.
5. A ‘comfortable laziness’ after a secure marriage is a problem to few ladies.

How we can help them?

Let’s hope CCH will include the topic like ” How to setup and promote your clinic ” in BHMS syllabus. We already included the same in Kerala KUHS BHMS syllabus.

Never leave your clinic during pregnancy, delivery or illness. Appoint some junior doctors and give support over phone.

Job in chain clinics/corporate clinics seems to be a good option for many new comers , who are not in a position to start clinic immediately after the course or marriage.

In addition to the CMEs and mega seminars – homeopathy associations must support new generation doctors to earn their bread, butter and social reputation.

If you are not practicing or not working after BHMS – the most energetic 6 years in your life (campus life) had wasted without any output.

Even though your husband has good income, you have to prove your identity or existence as a doctor by working or practicing. To become a mere housewife this much of study and qualification is not required !

Support from family
Female doctors really need support from family.If lady really loves her profession she can practice as male doctors – attitude that determines everything. But She should get perfect atmosphere at home and workplace to excel.

Remember
Private practice is the best option than any other job – that give you more social reputation and  financial stability.

Counter Point
Don’t  worry about the ever increasing number of doctors – India has 6000 births in a minute.

Just an analysis
Which system is best for private practice?

• Allopathy ? – At least MD required – 11 years of study
• Ayurveda ? – More quacks, cost of medicine too high
• Dental ? – Cost of clinic, lesser number of patients
• Homoeopathy ? – Cost of clinic and medicines – comparatively less, earn immediately after BHMS

BAMS : 15265

So more placement & more private practice – since less number of doctors in homoeopathy.

The regular enhancement of knowledge and recent advances in the medical treatment by attending CMEs and lectures will give you more confidence as well as credibility. In addition, specialty based courses will improve acumen and competency.

This is true for women the world over. A woman’s profession is always considered secondary to her husband’s or partner’s. So often she juggles everything including providing the emotional support and physical support for her partner and family…and that is not reciprocated.

There is also the fact that since so many practitioners of homeopathy are women (it’s close to 90% here in North America) homeopathy is targeted as “woo woo” and denounced.

On the other hand, the vast majority of the patients’ homeopaths treat are female. They bring their families in and seek treatment for their own ailments.

I guess it should be best left to the female, what she wants to do : to practice, stay at home or to take break and then join her work.

Without supportive family, it’s difficult to practice after you have your own kid. And an anxious mother can’t ever practice successfully.

On the other hand, supportive husband and in laws are a blessing for the female.Depending on her situation, the doctor should best decide for herself.

I think it is a common problem of all struggling lady homoeopath who are married & specially have kids. But if we determine to do practicing.. no one can restrict us. Try to find out a scope to establish our own identity…. “yes I am a good homoeopath”

True this is only the reality. If female doctors wants to practise after marriage and child she has to fight first from family then make comprises to her kids and then start struggle with carrier…..but this is the beauty only of a lady that after fighting all these constraints once she decide that she wants make her carrier she do best/
